When you’re in your twenties, pretty much everyone around you starts getting engaged and married. It’s such a fun and busy time! And then comes the question you’re so excited to hear – Will you in my bridal party!?
OF COURSE you’re ecstatic and so so happy, but then the stress of having some actual jobs to do will set in.
You want this whole experience to be so fun and exciting for your bride; you don’t want to go into mounds of debt; and you have your own life to worry about too.
The key is staying organized and reminding yourself that this is all supposed to be about fun and celebrating your bride!
Here’s a few of my tips to planning a wonderful bachelorette your bride is sure to love.
How To Throw The Best Bachelorette Ever
Talk To Your Bride
This one may seem like a no brainer, but sometimes you can get wrapped up in wanting everything to be a surprise and doing things how either you would want it, or how you think bachelorettes should go.
Talk to your bride and find out what she actually wants. Does she want to go bar-hopping? Dick stuff everywhere? Weekend away or slumber party in? Find out the general jist of what she would like (& doesn’t like!), the types of themes or colours that are her fave and go from there.
Start a group Pinterest board with all the girls in the bridal party and the bride! This will show you a general theme the bride tends to go with and will give you some awesome ideas for decor, food and games!
It’ll be much easier to plan if you know what the bride actually wants (and she doesn’t have to pretend to be excited about all the dick straws and decor everywhere when she actually hates it).
Set A Budget
I know it’s hard not to get wrapped up in all the excitement and want to buy all the things, but you will go seriously broke. Set a general budget for what you’re doing for food & drinks, for decor, favours, games, and bride gifts.
Figuring out which items you (or anyone in the bridal party!) already owns is a great start. Free stuff is always the first place to start!
I broke down all the items in each category that I may need, and came up with a rough budget on how much I would be spending on each category.
I actually wrote everything up in Excel so I could have it all in neat tables. But not everyone has to be so cray LOL.
Having a general idea of how much everything is going to cost (along with what you can afford) sets your mind at ease and helps you not to stray from that list once you start purchasing.
Amazon is a great place to find all the specific items you want, all in one place. I grabbed these cute sashes to add a little something to the brides outfit (& the bridal party too!)
DIY Favours
Favours aren’t always a necessity for a party, so don’t throw the money out for them if it’s really not doable for your budget.
If you are wanting to give the guests a little something, DIY it! Make it something useful and general enough that everyone would love.
I made some cute personalized wine glasses with everyone’s initial. We etched them on, but there are so many possibilities. I then put them into some craft bags with some chocolate, wrote everyone’s names on the bags, and they turned out adorable!
Delegate
Definitely guilty of wanting everything to go my way and having a hard time trusting other people. But if you have a bridal party behind you, I’m sure they’re more than willing to help!
Give everyone their own jobs to do. Not only does it lift the workload off of you a bit, it divides a little bit of the expenses up.
“It takes a village” isn’t only true in raising a child. Planning a sweet bachelorette ain’t no walk in the park either.
Printables
I heart printables. If only I had a printer that worked more than 20% of the time…
But for real, head over to Pinterest and search for all your bridal games & signs that you can print for free. So many bridal games you can buy are $15 and up, whereas you can just pop on over to Pinterest and print them yourself.
Many of the cutesy (cheesy) bridal games we played I had found on Pinterest and just printed them out. This bridal mad libs one from Kate Aspen was a hit that everyone thought was hilarious for the bride to read out loud.
Use code TAKE25 for $25 off your order of $200 or more at Kate Aspen!
And if you’re not the most artsy person out there, being able to just print off some cute signs (say for the entryway, or a mimosa bar) adds a cute little touch to your shindig.
Include The Groom
Remember that this is a celebration of your bride getting married! Make sure to add some little touches to include the groom.
If you’re staying in one location, it’s a super cute touch to add a bunch of framed photos of the couple. It definitely makes the bride feel like the party really is about her getting married to her lucky guy.
Another great game to play is to ask the groom (ahead of time) a bunch of questions involving the bride, and when the party comes, you quiz the bride on his answers! It’s a super fun game and really shows how much the couple knows about each other.
Throwing a bachelorette party is all about celebrating your bride-to-be. Make sure you add some nice touches to make her feel special and your party will be great.
It might be stressful and overwhelming trying to plan the perfect day for your girl, but remember, at least you don’t have to plan the whole wedding LOL!
