IKEA Hacks For Every Room In Your House

IKEA Hacks

Being in my mid-twenties, I’m right smack in the middle of still having a bunch of the furniture I moved out with (aka hand me downs and good old IKEA).

Now having my own place for quite a while now, I’ve been on the hunt to slowly start updating my furniture more towards my style and away from the typical college student set-up (I’m lookin’ at you black-brown).

When I mentioned slowly updating, I meant slow. It’s been well over a year of getting new furniture and I’ve gotten maaaaybe 4 pieces. With many more to go.

Furniture is expensive man!

It’s not easy to justify dropping hundreds on a new kitchen table when you’re still trying to establish your career and you’ve got bills to pay (and other fun things to do).

Home Look Nicer on Budget

We all scroll through the beautiful Insta feeds filled with these gorgeous homes, perfect decorating and immaculate style – how do people actually live in places like that!? (and afford it!?)

A lot of the time those photos are perfectly curated specifically for a photoshoot – sometimes they really are just sets and not lived in homes. And sometimes people are just loaded enough to have that nice of a home (kudos to them!)

Being young and still working on rising up to a solid income, I totally get not being able to afford all the gorgeous home decor items your heart desires. And not being able to afford a 4 bedroom brand new house – it’s just not realistic coming right out of college or high school.

Purge and Organize

The new year always sparks a cleaning frenzy in everyone to start your year off with a clean slate.

With the new Netflix series Tidying Up With Marie Kondo being all the rage right now as well, everyone is all hands on deck when it comes to cleaning their homes – and I’m no different!

I’m naturally a pretty tidy person and enjoy staying organized, but I love jumping on the bandwagon this time of year to really organize my home. And the way I’ve learned to see it as that there’s no use in organizing and cleaning old crap that you don’t even want. Know what that means!?

Time to purge.

purge: to make free of something unwanted

I’m sure you can find a TON of stuff in your home that’s now unwanted. Trying to fold or make closet space for clothes you don’t even want is a waste of time and space. Old expired soup in the pantry? Yeah, you’re never using that. All of that stuff just causes clutter.
